You will develop your English language and research skills, to ensure you gain the confidence to succeed in your postgraduate studies.

You’ll be taught by dedicated subject specialist English language tutors, who will give you the confidence to thrive.
You will study in small classes, benefiting from collaborative learning and empowering you to shape your learning experience. The course embeds cross-cultural practice from the start, where you will work in teams to collaborate on project goals, gain feedback as well as support.
You will learn through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, discussion groups, group directed tasks and presentations. You will be encouraged to bring your own ideas, resources and experience to help develop a critical approach to engaging with other professionals.
You will also have access to Academic Success and Academic Guidance tutors, who will help you feel confident, and ensure you excel in your postgraduate study.
You will be assessed through a combination of written, practical and portfolio coursework, presentations, reports, case studies, projects, interviews and professional skills assessment.
Business
30 credits
The aim of this module is to provide you with an introduction to the complexities of managementand leadership in the contemporary global business environment. As future senior managers, youwill reflect on your own skills and competencies, identifying the skills and knowledge that you needto develop and advance your career as a successful leader. You will become familiar with keyaspects of leadership and management that will enhance your understanding of business and helpyou to progress on your chosen master's course.
You will begin this module by exploring the global workplace context and consider some of the key issues that affect businesses' long-term success and their impact on the wider environment. Issues concerning staffing organisations and the on-going challenges of skills and labour shortages will be addressed. The ethics session will encourage you to consider what is ‘right’ and the important role that you have in shaping the future of business. You will be encouraged and supported in developing a critical mindset and in questioning your own values and attitudes.
Teaching and learning
The teaching delivery for this module consists of one, one-three-hour lecture and one, two-hour workshop per week. Lectures will cover the topic content using bursts of short lectures, supported by short case studies, industry research, quizzes, group work and presentations. Workshops will consist of small group work and individual activities.
You will also have an additional 30 minutes of online activities each week.
Assessment
This module will be assessed using a video and a reflective log and development plan.
30% - video, choose a business organisation you would like to work for, telling us why and how you’d be a good fit.
70% - reflective log and development plan, choosing one key topic, reflect on your current skills and knowledge in this area.

This module aims to focus intensively on language improvement and the development of independent academic study skills appropriate to master's level.
By the end of the module, you will have embedded existing English language skills within the specialist professional language, literature and vocabulary of your own discipline, showing confidence and diversity in their vocabulary, contextualisation and interpretation.
This module will provide further practical experiences in the integration of English for academic purposes (including source analysis, critical thinking, discourse, comprehension and communication) and provides students with opportunities for you to apply these skills within a professional context.
You will be given the opportunity to utilise the academic and language skills on the course to ensure a broadening of your knowledge base and cognitive skills ready for master's level study.
You will apply improving comprehension skills through critical debate and gain the confidence to engage actively in seminars, debates and industry Q&As. Through the module, you will consolidate your experience and academic skills enabling a more analytical and didactic interpretation of research with outcomes focusing on formal, referenced written submissions.

This module equips students with essential skills in data visualisation and AI-driven analytics to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets. The module integrates theoretical foundations with practical applications, enabling you to design, develop, and evaluate interactive data visualisations that enhance decision-making and predictive analysis.
By recognising the importance of culture and context in data, you will develop the ability to create visualisations that avoid cultural biases and represent all groups accurately. You will be encouraged to think critically about how your data work can be applied to pressing global challenges like climate change, pollution, and social inequality.
You will use data to identify and address international challenges. By focusing on global issues, you will understand the interconnectedness of nations and the need for data-driven collaboration across borders.

The teaching delivery for each module consists of one, one-two-hour lecture and one, three-hour practical session per week. Lectures will cover key concepts in data visualisation and artificial intelligence, advanced visualisation tools and their applications, such as Tableau, Power BI and Python libraries, AI-driven analytical techniques such as clustering and predictive analytics and ethical considerations in AI-driven visualisations, including fairness and transparency.
Practical sessions will consist of hands-on workshops using industry-standard tools for data visualisation and AI integration, interactive exercises focusing on dynamic visualisation techniquesand predictive analytics, domain-specific applications, and collaborative project work encouragingpeer feedback and group discussions.

You will begin by examining the topic of project management which is an essential element of professional and personal success. Through your applied learning of research methods, practical experience in qualitative and quantitative research and the development of sound academic management skills, you will be able to undertake a self-set, time-limited research project.
You will be empowered to undertake research in relation to your interests and relevant subject specialism, developing the ability to analyse contemporary topics and critically review data.
You will practice your self-managed research skills and enhance your analytical skills to present, question and interpret findings to a self-set research question, helping you to develop an independent approach to study that is required to succeed at masters’ level.
You will be encouraged to reflect on your own experiences and reflections on global issues within your chosen specialism and identify important areas of research. You will have the opportunity to undertake your own research in relation to your interests, analyse current findings and review recent data relevant to your subject.

Sessions will support career readiness, guiding you on crafting compelling graduate level job applications, preparing for professional interviews, and networking effectively in your discipline. You will develop both hard skills, specific to your field, and soft skills, such as teamwork, negotiation and leadership, essential for professional growth. By the end of this module, you will be equipped with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to excel in graduate, professional documentation, and diverse, contemporary workplaces.
