Our Purpose
The Centre for Research and Knowledge Exchange in Psychological Wellbeing (CREW) brings together the School of Psychology’s unique disciplinary composition and expertise.
Our research spans experimental and developmental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, counselling psychology, and arts and play therapies.
In REF2021, 62% of the research we submitted was ranked as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’, with all three of our impact case studies ranked at this level.

ENHANCE
ENHANCE provides tailored evaluation services to assess digital and real-world mental well-being interventions.
Backed by experts from our School of Psychology, we support mental health providers in developing evidence, enhancing interventions, and ensuring sustainability through consultations and full evaluations for products, apps, and cognitive-enhancing solutions.
Our research areas

Ageing
Our research explores how ageing affects cognitive and mental health, including memory, attention, and emotional well-being, and how neuropsychological techniques can assess and improve psychological function in older adults.

Diet, Lifestyle, and Mental Health
This research examines how diet and lifestyle factors impact mental health, bridging psychology and life sciences to understand their effect on cognition, brain function, and mental health disorders, including prevention strategies.

The Therapy Relationship
Our research focuses on aspects of the therapy relationship that shape and improve counselling and psychotherapy outcomes, including clients' and therapists' experiences, enhancing the therapeutic process and its effectiveness.

Mental Wellbeing for Children, Young People, and Families
This research promotes a better understanding of the social and psychological well-being of children, adolescents, and their families, focusing on public health, health services, policy, and practice to improve mental health.

Research in Cognition, Neuroscience, and Neuroimaging (CNNI)
Our research in cognition, neuroscience, and neuroimaging investigates behaviour and brain function in both healthy and clinical populations, using neuropsychological and neuroimaging techniques to explore cognitive processes.

Research in Social and Psychological Transformation (CREST)
We are interested in interventions, methods, and theories that bridge the psychological and social domains: fostering positive transformation at both psychological and sociopolitical levels.
