Professor Hoskins presented the G-EPIC project, which focuses on groundbreaking research on developing and testing a five-lesson Girls Empowerment intervention, which is designed to boost the confidence of disadvantaged girls in engaging with party politics.

The presentation not only discussed the importance of teaching formal politics to students to reduce inequalities in democracy, but also the importance of carefully selecting the right methods and resources in these lessons. The presentation sparked conversations about how to empower underrepresented groups in the political process and ensuring that all voices are heard and help shape the democracy that we live in.

The AGM of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Political and Media literacy, focused on shaping the future of civic education through important updates and research.

Participants, parliamentarians, and speakers at the event included Lord Blunkett, Lord Chris Rennard, Claire Hazelgrove MP, Sharon Hodgson MP, Kevin McKenna MP, Iqbal Mohamed MP, Matteo Bergamini and Jan-Philipp Wagner.

Professor Hoskins said, “It was great to lead this impactful presentation, which highlights the vital work the G-EPIC project is doing to promote equity and inclusion in education and political engagement. I am excited for the future of political education and media literacy in the UK and continuing to support the APPG and its important work”
