Associate Professor, Dr Kaz Brandt, secures 100 industry placements for Psychology students

The University of Roehampton’s School of Psychology has launched the groundbreaking Roehampton Digital Internship Scheme, securing 100 industry projects for final-year Psychology students in collaboration with the Roehampton Student Futures Team and leading experiential learning platform Practera.

This initiative, spearheaded by Associate Professor of Psychology and Employability Lead Dr Kaz Brandt, is designed to provide students with real-world experience, enhancing their professional development and employability. The scheme aligns with the University’s commitment to equipping students with industry-relevant skills and practical knowledge.

Over a four-week period, students will participate in hands-on projects, working on real-world briefs and tackling industry challenges. Each project entails 25 hours of active participation, allowing students to apply their academic knowledge in professional settings, develop problem-solving abilities, and gain insights into workplace dynamics. Project briefs are based on four themes; Growth Strategy, Digital Marketing, AI Strategy and Talent and Culture.

Dr Brandt expressed enthusiasm for the scheme, stating "I am delighted that, with the Student Futures Team, we are launching the first-ever Digital Internship at the University of Roehampton. These internships will provide an invaluable experience for our students, enabling them to build upon their psychology skills and apply these to industry-relevant tasks."

Julie Powell, Head of Careers and Employer Engagement, highlighted the significance of such opportunities, "These work-based learning opportunities not only enhance employability but also build confidence and professional networks. This initiative ensures Roehampton’s psychology students are well-prepared for their future careers, equipping them with the skills and experience employers value."

Applications for the Roehampton Digital Internship Scheme will open in mid-to-late March, with a closing date of 24th April. The programme will run from 19th May to 15th June 2025, providing students with an exceptional opportunity to bridge the gap between academic study and professional success.
