Roehampton alumni come together to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support

On 14 September 2024, a group of Roehampton alumni got together for a very special game of football, to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support. The players stretched across 14 years of Roehampton graduates.

The inspiration behind this event was Gemma Enticknap, a Roehampton alumna. Gemma was diagnosed with cancer late last year. She was supported throughout her treatment by the incredible MacMillan team in Portsmouth. Since receiving the positive news that she is cancer free, Gemma’s wish is to raise money for MacMillan to ensure that families in the future receive support from this amazing charity like Gemma and her family did.

The match was held at Nork Park Rangers in Banstead, where the team was allowed to use the facilities for free, with all proceeds from the event donated to charity. With 32 players taking part, the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Both teams shared the Jimmy Kacamer Memorial Cup, a cup in memory of Jimmy, a Roehampton alumnus who sadly passed away in 2016 of Leukemia.

So far, an amazing £3000 has been raised. Additional donations would be greatly appreciated and can be made here. The event demonstrated just how deep the Roehampton bond runs and what it means to be a part of the Roehampton community.
